Daintree Networks, a provider of wireless control network solutions for smart buildings, and Marvell Semiconductor are collaborating to enable open standard ZigBee wireless communications integrated into smart lighting products.
The initial joint effort is focused on using Marvell products to create integrated wireless LED drivers that allow LED luminaires to interface with Daintree's open standard ControlScope product.
Orama, a supplier of LED drivers, is the first company to introduce this capability into its line of drivers. By introducing integrated wireless LED drivers, luminaire manufacturers are eliminating the need for a separate wireless adapter, which is typically used in today's commercial wireless lighting control systems. Installation is also made easy with built-in wireless drivers. Drivers are pre-installed during device factory assembly, eliminating Saudi Arabia Mobile Number List the more expensive on-site assembly that is often required when connecting separate wireless adapters to standard drivers. According to Daintree, the integration significantly reduces overall hardware, installation and commissioning costs by $75 to $100 per device, allowing building owners to quickly bring wireless control solutions to market.
Unlike existing analog control, built-in digital wireless control allows users to add advanced LED control features such as custom white control and detailed device-level power and performance monitoring.
At Lightfair International, Daintree and Marvell will be showcasing a complete ZigBee wireless LED lighting control solution, including Daintree's ControlScope and Orama OCC20W-Z LED driver, based on Marvell's 88EM8801 LED driver and 88MZ100 wireless device. microcontroller. Orama's integrated ZigBee wireless LED driver will be commercially released late Q2 2013.
In other LED news, PowerSecure International has acquired Solais Lighting, which has its own portfolio of LED lamps and luminaires for commercial and industrial applications. The acquisition will strengthen PowerSecure's existing LED business with additional product lines and an expanded customer base, while also enhancing its skillset in product design, product commercialization, manufacturing and materials sourcing. PowerSecure paid Solais shareholders $6.5 million in cash plus 675,160 shares of PowerSecure common stock and assumed approximately $0.2 million of negative working capital for a total transaction value of $15 million.
